A reader wrote to say that she was feeling lonely at break (休息) because her best friend wasn’t around. Here’s our advice to her — and to all the kids who feel lonely sometimes.
It’s hard when our best friend isn’t around — maybe because she moved to a different class or a different school. You may feel lonely at break or lunchtime. You want to have new friends. But how do you make it Maybe it seems like everybody else already has their friends. But remember, there’s always room for more friends.
You can start by looking around your classroom — think about which kids you’d like to play with at break. Look for chances to say hello to them, smile, and be friendly. Offer to share something or express your appreciation (欣赏) to them. Invite someone to play with you or say “Do you want to sit here ” in the lunchroom. When you’re at break, walk over to the kids you want to play with.
If you have trouble doing this or if you feel shy, ask your teacher to help you make new friends. Teachers are usually pretty good at matching up friends. The best way to make friends is to be a friend. Be kind, be friendly, share, say nice things, and offer to help — and soon you’ll have one, or two, or even more new friends.
You might still miss that special best friend. But when you see each other, you can share something you didn’t have before: You can introduce him or her to your new friends!

A. teachers B. parents C. students

B. The reasons to make friends.
C. The places to make friends.
40. Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage
A. All kids are feeling lonely.
B. It is easy for kids to make new friends.
C. If you are a friend, you can make friends.
41. What can we learn from the last paragraph
A. We can forget our old friends.
B. We can share our best friends.
C. We can write to our best friends.
五、任务型阅读
“I don’t like my parents. They always tell me that I should do this and should not do that. It sometimes makes me angry,” said Zhang Hua, a middle school student in Guangzhou. Do you have the same problem Perhaps your parents had the same problem when they were young. Why aren’t some parents so friendly in their children’s eyes
One of the most important reasons is when someone becomes a parent, he/ she often worries about things. Since you were born (出生), your parents have worried about everything about you. They do a lot for you. Though something would make you angry, they care about you and worry about you. They worry about your choice (选择) of friends, the food you eat, your study at school, how much sleep you get and so on. All these things are part of your life, because they want you to grow up healthily and happily.
So how can you make things easier on yourself It’s easier than you think. Just make sure your parents know what you’re doing. Get them to know your friends. Phone them if you get home later than usual. Say sorry to them when you make mistakes. Talk about your ideas with them and they may talk about theirs with you.
Most of all, try to think why your parents do this or do that. They are still practicing being parents and need help that you can give them. When you become a parent, they may be able to help you learn how to get on with your children.
