Plants are more than just pretty to look at. They give us food. Some plants even provide materials for medicine or building things. But do you know that plants can do something even more amazing They can make our homes, schools and workplaces much healthier.
We spend a large part of our day indoors. Unluckily, the air inside buildings can often be full of chemicals (化学物质) from many things around us. This poor air quality (质量) can make us feel sick, causing sore eyes and throats, and even making it hard for us to breathe. When the air inside buildings gets really bad, people even call them “sick buildings”.
The good news is that plants are like nature’s little superheroes. They have a magic power fighting against bad air. Plants breathe in carbon dioxide (CO ) and breathe out oxygen (O ) which we humans need to live. They can also add moisture to the air if it’s too dry, making it more comfortable for us to breathe.
________ Scientists have discovered that plants have the ability to take in harmful chemicals, making the air around us safer to breathe. They set up a completely closed building called “bio-home” for experiments. Before they added plants, the air inside was full of chemicals and people found it hard to breathe. But after they added plants, the air got much cleaner and it became easier to breathe. To make the air inside even better, the scientists used different kinds of plants. After a while, the building wasn’t a “sick building” any more. People could go inside without feeling unwell.
So you see, plants are fantastic! They are not only beautiful to look at, but they also provide us with food, help create materials and play an important role in our health. In many movies, there are sometimes characters who have chips (芯片) put in their heads. This might come true very soon.
Neuralink, US businessman Elon Musk’s company, has developed a chip that was implanted into the head of a pig. On August 28th, Musk did a livestream (直播) on how it works by showing the signal transmission (信号传输).
The chip is the size of a coin. It has over 3,000 electrodes (电极) that can keep watch on 1,000 neurons (神经元). So in the livestream while the pig was breathing, people could see its brain activity on a large screen. If this technology is used on humans, after the chip picks up signals in the brain, these signals will be sent to nearby computers or apps and then be translated into actions, such as moving an arm or leg.
It’s not a dream for people to use a small chip to change their lives with their minds. For now the purpose is to use it to help disabled people. They could move around more easily with their minds. People could even use the technology to play video games or drive cars.
However, there is still a long way to make these things happen. The chip can send signals from about 500 neurons in the pig’s brain. However, the human brain has 80 billion neurons and it’s very complicated. Also, it is not safe to implant the chip yet, it could hurt the brain. There is another problem, too. When humans are connected to computers, are they still humans

I am not asking how much it is,” the man said. “I would like to buy all of them. What I ask is how much you want for them.” Hearing this, the boy happily counted the number of the birds in the cage. “Five dollars.” “Here you are!” The man passed the money. Suddenly he was surprised to find the cage was empty! “Oh my god, for what reason did you do that, sir You don’t even get a bird!” the boy asked the man who set the birds free.

The Spring Festival
The Spring Festival is a cherished Chinese tradition with rich customs. Families clean houses to sweep away bad luck, paste red couplets for good fortune, and share a reunion dinner with dumplings on New Year’s Eve.
My childhood Spring Festivals involved visiting busy markets for New Year goods and receiving paper red envelopes. Now, we shop online easily, send digital red envelopes via apps, and even travel to celebrate.
For me, the festival’s true meaning never changes. It’s about family bonding, showing love to elders, and looking forward to a hopeful new year—no matter how ways of celebrating evolve.
