Lion dance is a popular tradition in China. Usually, this art form is practiced by men. However, there is
a special lion dance team in a town of Guangzhou. It is completely made up of teenage girls and the team
stands out among all the teams.
The coach, Zhang Zheliang, said that some people didn’t believe the teenage girls could do well in lion
dance. They thought girls’ practicing lion dance didn’t follow the tradition. That made Zhang realize the
situation for girls was difficult, but he didn’t give up. He set up a women’s team. Then he designed flags
with the name “women’s team” on them and made pink lion heads.
The year 2021 saw the changes. The girls’ lion dance team got the first prize in a match in Guangzhou’s
Baiyun district (区). The next year, the girls once again clinched the top prize in the junior group in the 16th
Guangdong Provincial Games. They proved themselves to be excellent.
Now the team has over 20 girls from several places, from the age of 7 to 19. Li Jiawen, 17, acts as the
lion head. When she wears it, she has to go up to heights of at least 1.7 meters. She shares that their success
comes from hard work and training day after day.
Lion dance is not easy, especially for girls, because it needs strength and martial art movements (武术动
作 ). But girls have their own advantages and their characters help them show the lion’s feelings and
behaviors better.
Zhang said, “When the team takes the show to primary schools, more young girls become interested in
lion dance. This shows ancient traditions should be passed down openly!”

①Have you ever thought about what's more important, looking fashionable or feeling comfortable
You might have noticed many people choosing style over comfort and some even go to extremes(极端) to
follow fashion. But we should remember: being fashionable isn't everything. It's more important to be
healthy.
②Some people believe that they need to be a certain size to look good. So, they start extreme diets that
are not good for their health. They might not eat meals or eat too little, which can make them feel sick. Is it a
healthy way to live
③Also, many girls wear shoes with very high heels. They might think high heels make them look taller.
But these shoes can actually hurt their feet and make it hard to walk comfortably, and it can increase risks of
falls. Some even wear tight clothes that influence blood circulation(循环), making it hard to breathe. Should
we put fashion over comfort and physical health
④Besides, some boys and girls spend a lot of time and money changing their hair color. The material
they use is usually harmful to their health. To make their hair straight or curly, they also use tools that are hot
enough to burn their hair. But using these tools too often or at very high temperatures can make the hair dry
or even burnt. Is it really worth it to risk our health, spending so much time and money
⑤So, let's rethink what's really important. Is it fashion or is it our well-being Clothes or hairstyles
don't tell us anything about a person's character. Instead of spending a lot of time choosing clothes, we could
use that time to do fun things with friends. And instead of following extreme diets, let's eat properly and
exercise regularly. Remember, your worth is not decided by your appearance, but by who you are as a
person.
23.Why do some people go on extreme diets according to the passage
A.Because the diets are healthy. B.Because they want to save money.
C.Because they just want to look good. D.Because they want to save time.
24. What is the writer's purpose of using a question in each paragraph
A.To ask for help from readers. B.To tell how to spend time and money.
C.To describe the latest fashion. D.To lead readers to think about the topic.
25. What does the underlined word “well-being” in Paragraph 5 mean
A.Growth. B.Health. C.Warmth. D.Wealth.
26. Which of the following best shows the structure of the passage
A B C D
D
If I had a cold, I wouldn’t think twice about telling my friends or my doctor. For some reason, however,
4
mental (心理的)health is not treated in the same way.
At my primary school, mental health was not discussed even once as far as I can remember. This makes
me wonder how many other schools are failing to educate their students on this topic. It makes me sad that
children growing up with mental illness may feel like it is something to be ashamed of (对......感到羞耻)
because it is never discussed. When I reached high school, mental health was still seldom discussed. But
when it was in the topic of health or biology class, I was given a broad idea that mental illness was a “thing”
that really lies.
In my opinion, overstressed high school students could benefit(获益) greatly from more deep
discussions about how to deal with mental health problems, such as how to know when you should care
about yourself or a friend, or who to reach out for help. I know my friends and I could have (本可以 )
benefited. Even if you personally have never faced mental health problems, someone you know is sure to
have, and you can offer timely help.
I believe we need to normalize(使......正常化) discussions about mental health at an early age, rather
than hiding them from sight. At school, I saw a student’s report on mental health education and how it can be
carried out in the American school system. The student used the film Inside Out (头脑特工队) to explain
feelings to younger kids. This report made me believe that it is possible to start these discussions at a young
age if we try.
Although we can’t change the way people think about mental health over one night, there are still things
we can do. Asking our friends how they’re feeling is a good start.
27.What was mental health education like when the writer was in high school
A.It was far from enough. B.It was paid no attention to.
C.It was dealt with in detail(详细地). D.It was considered important.
28.What can we infer from Paragraph 3
A.High school students are under increasing stress these days.
B.There is an increased awareness of mental health problems.
C.Many students are ashamed of having mental health problems.
D.The writer might have had mental health problems in high school.
29.What did the writer learn from the student’s report
A.Kids who are healthy outside might be ill inside.
B.Mental health discussions can be held with young kids.
C.The American school system is open to mental health education.
D.Watching educational films can help children with mental illness.
30.What is the best title for the text
A.The earlier, the better! B.Is it okay if it’s not good
C.Mental health matters! D.How to pay attention to mental health

七、阅读表达(共 5 小题, 计 10分)
It was early winter several years ago. I had pulled out my old winter coat for another year’s use. It was
still in pretty good shape after so many winters' wear. I didn’t really need a new one but I wanted one and
casually(不经意地)mentioned it to my daughter one day. She is such a sweet, loving soul that I should have
guessed what would happen next. A few weeks later she gave me a gift of a bright red, brand new, winter's
coat.
I put the old one in my closet(壁橱)and started to wear the new coat every day. Each day, though,
when I opened my closet something upset me. It seemed a shame that my still good, old coat should just sit
there keeping no one warm during the cold, winter days. After a few weeks I took it out and drove to a local
charity(慈善机构). I knew that there someone who couldn’t afford a coat might get my old one. I dropped
it off and walked out the door. Then I saw a shivering(瑟瑟发抖的)man in only a thin jacket walking in. I
wondered if he would end up in my old coat. Then I smiled and went home with a warm heart.
My new coat is old now. It is in too bad of shape to even give away to charity. I wonder if I should buy
a new one soon but I think I will wait a while. I don’t really need a new one and maybe I can find a few
7
more things to give to the charity instead.
Perhaps the best way to deal with our wants is to give. Love, after all, brings us the most joy. And the
more of it you give away, the more of it you have. May all of your days be full of Warmth! May all of your
days be full of Giving! May all of your days be full of Love!

Sample Answer:
2024 Person of the Year in My Heart
In 2024, the person who touched me most was my neighbor, Mrs. Li. One rainy evening, I forgot my umbrella and was stuck at school. Mrs. Li, despite her age, walked to school with an umbrella and waited for me for half an hour. Another time, she noticed I was stressed about exams and cooked me warm soup. Her kindness and selflessness showed me the true meaning of love. She taught me that small acts of care can light up someone’s world. Mrs. Li is not just a neighbor; she’s an angel in my heart.
