At times, people want to look a bit more like someone else. The photos you see on the screen can give you ideas about how your bodies “should” look. However, you are all different in your own way. Accepting who you are can help you feel happier and more positive about yourself.
Self-acceptance (自我接纳) means appreciating what you’re good at, like sports, science or music. It also means valuing the parts of you that don’t shine as brightly, like being forgetful or untidy. It’s a habit about being kind to yourself even when you make a mistake. In other words, just accept who you are no matter what other people say or think.
When you accept who you are, you worry less about things you can’t change. This makes you feel happier and more confident. Everyone can feel as if they have to appear perfect. That leads us to forget about the little things that make us special, because we’re so busy trying to meet (满足) someone else’s standards. Self-acceptance can also help you discover what you’re really good at.
Start by making a list of all the things you like about yourself. Maybe you’re good at cooking, or people find it easy to talk to you. Ask your friends for help. Also, try saying kind, positive things to yourself in a mirror every morning. Think up ways to treat yourself, like taking a long bath or watching your favorite film, and spend some quality time on your own. It’s also important to look after yourself by eating healthy food and getting plenty of sleep.
44.According to Paragraph 1, what should we try to do
A.To change our looks. B.To learn from others.
C.To shorten screen time. D.To accept ourselves.
45.What does the underlined word “appreciating” in Paragraph 2 mean
A.Wondering. B.Admiring. C.Practicing. D.Forgetting.
46.Self-acceptance can make us ________ according to the passage.
A.become confident B.appear perfect
C.meet others’ standards D.overcome our weaknesses
47.Which paragraph mainly talks about the ways of self-acceptance
A.Paragraph 1. B.Paragraph 2. C.Paragraph 3. D.Paragraph 4.
48.What can we learn from the passage
A.Practice makes perfect.
B.Where there is love, there is life.
C.You are imperfect, but you are beautiful.
D.Don’t let yesterday take up too much of today.
Why not find a new friend in 2024—yourself! Being treated with kindness, respect (尊重) and love are things which you would expect, from friends. You shouldn’t have to go far to find them. 49
What does self-love mean 50 Imagine your best friend is worried or upset, then think about how you’d support them and try to make them feel better. Self-love means giving yourself the love, care and respect. It means speaking to yourself with kindness and encouragement. It means taking good care of your body and mind.
51 Learning to love yourself can improve your self-respect. The health charity Young Minds says this makes you believe in yourself and feel that you deserve (值得) having good things—such as kind friends and fun experiences.
52 Start to be kind, especially if you make a mistake.Instead of being angry, tell yourself that everyone gets things wrong sometimes. 53 . Focus on (关注) yourself instead. Before you go to bed, think about three things that went well for you that day. This will help you see the positives (积极) in your life.

Why is self-acceptance good for you
When you accept who you are, you worry less about things you can’t change. It makes you feel happier and more confident. The Anna Freud Centre, a charity that helps young people, says everyone can feel that they have to be perfect(完美的), but that makes us forget about the little things that make us special. ▲ For example, some people may find letters or numbers hard to read, but they might have strengths in other things, like finding good ways to work out problems.
How can you accept yourself
Start by making a list of all the things you like about yourself. Maybe you’re good at cooking, or people find it easy to talk to you. Also, try saying kind, happy things to yourself in a mirror every morning. Think up ways to treat yourself, such as taking a long shower, watching your favorite film, or eating delicious ice-cream. But don’t forget it’s important to eat healthy food and get enough sleep.
