Once, a villager had a donkey and a goat. He used the donkey to carry things from the village to the city. Then he sold things in the city all day. Sometimes he would lend his donkey to others when they needed it. As the donkey worked hard the whole day, the villager fed the donkey more food than he gave to the goat.
The goat was jealous (嫉妒的) of the donkey. It advised the donkey "You work hard all day, but you don't get enough rest. You can lie on the ground and pretend (假装) to be ill (生病的). In this way, you'll have a good rest for a few days." The donkey agreed and acted as if it was ill. The villager asked a doctor for help. The doctor said, "Your donkey has a strange illness. The villager killed the goat and cooked soup with the goat's meat. Then he fed the soup to the donkey. The goat tried to harm the donkey out of jealousy, but it was killed for its bad nature.
