Dressed in a strawberry suit, Miss Strawberry greeted the kids and took pictures with them. The kids got to draw strawberries on the pavements(人行道). They also played with water balloons.
Local businesses sold their strawberry treats, including strawberries and strawberry pies. Opened two months ago, Paul and Emily Bobensky, the owners of Lacka Lemonade, sold their fresh lemonade(柠檬味汽水). They normally go to the farmers' markets. It is the first time that they appeared at the strawberry festival.
Even though it was a strawberry festival, there was a pie-eating contest including blueberry pies. People gathered around and cheered as five men raced to finish pies without using their hands.

The Magic of Chinese New Year
In China, we celebrate the Spring Festival every winter. This festival always lasts 15 days. Families usually clean their houses before New Year’s Eve. Often they decorate windows with red paper cuttings.
On New Year’s Eve, everyone gathers for a reunion dinner. We always eat dumplings and fish. Children sometimes stay up late to welcome the new year. At midnight, firecrackers light up the sky—it’s never quiet!
During the festival, people often wear red clothes. Red means good luck in Chinese culture. We usually visit relatives and say “Gong Xi Fa Cai!” (Wishing you prosperity). Elders always give children red envelopes with lucky money.
The Lantern Festival ends the celebration. People sometimes solve riddles on lanterns. Families always eat sweet rice balls. This tradition shows family unity—each rice ball sticks together, just like our hearts.
The Spring Festival isn’t just fun. It teaches us about Chinese culture and family love. We celebrate not only a new year but also our rich traditions. Everywhere you go during this time, you feel the joy of being together.
