You may have learned from your textbook that earth is made up of four layers : First there is the crust , which is where we live and has water , soil and different kinds of rocks . Next comes the mantle , the thickest layer , which makes up about 67% of the earth ' s mass . Then there is a liquid outer core , including iron and nickel mostly . Finally there is an inner core , which is believed to be solid and mainly made up of iron - nickel alloy .
It ' s difficult to study the inner structure of the earth because we can ' t get past the crust . Our machines will burn up at the mantle and so will we . Scientists study it with the help of sound waves because different layers can slow down sound waves differently .
But according to a new study , there may be a fifth layer inside the earth . Scientists at the Australian National University ( ANU ) found this new layer within the earth ' s inner core . They call it the " innermost inner core ".
The inner core , which is 5,100 to 6,371 kilometres below the earth ' s surface , is hard . It ' s made of iron alloy . But starting from 5,700 km below the earth ' s surface , scientists have found some changes . They found there are iron crystals pointing in an east - west direction . But other iron crystals in the inner core point in a north - south direction . This difference makes the innermost inner core a new layer .
The earth used to be very hot before it cooled down . According to Joanne Stephenson , one of the researchers , this new finding suggests another cooling event in the earth ' s history . It can help us understand more about how the earth formed .
" It ' s very exciting ," Stephenson said ." And it may mean that you have to rewrite the textbooks !"

The grey wolf was kind . He knew he had to find food for them . He came to the riverbank . A large water bird was standing there . The grey wolf caught it . He was so hungry that he wanted to eat it . But he remembered the white wolf and her cubs in the cave . They needed food . He picked up the dead bird and began to carry it to the cave .

To learn a foreign language well, you need to spend a lot of time on it. The more time you spend on the language, the faster you will learn. This does not mean sitting in class looking out of the window, nor listening to other students who do not speak well. This means spending time enjoyably on the language you are learning.
Listen to the language you are learning by your MP3 player. Read what you are listening to. Listen to and read things that you like, things that you can mostly understand, or even partly understand. One hour of listening or reading is more effective (有效的) than many hours of class time. If you keep listening and reading, you will improve yourself.
Build up your vocabulary lists, which you’ll need lots of. Start to notice words and how they come together as phrases. Learn these words and phrases through listening and reading. It is very useful to read online, using online dictionaries. Do not wait for someone else to show your language. Learn by yourself, like a child growing up. Talk when you feel like it. Write when you feel like it. You are learning and improving. The language will become clearer in your mind. Just make sure you spend enough time on the language.

With this in mind , the research team started by recording plants ' sounds . They put sweet pepper and tomato plants in soundproof boxes to shut off the noise in the environment .Several ultrasonic microphones were then put near the plants , which can record between 20and250 kilohertz . An adult ' s ear can hear about 16 kilohertz . There were three groups of plants : One group wasn ' t watered for five days , another group had some parts cut off and the last group was untouched . The microphones caught sounds from 40 to 80 kilohertz from the first two groups . The sound which was similar to the noise of popcorn popping grew louder and louder during the five days of water stress . They then began to become weaker and weaker as the plants dried out . A stressed plant produced the popping sound around 30 to 50 times per hour , while the untouched group only produced around once per hour , according to the study .

Do you like the blind box (盲盒) It has been popular among young people. Buyers won’t know what type of toys they will get until they open the box. That sounds funny and exciting, but is it good for us to buy them Let’s read the following students’ opinions.
I like the blind box. First, in this period of rapid development, everyone is under pressure. Opening blind boxes is such a thing that can make us relaxed. Second, blind boxes also have their social influence (影响). Nowadays, many teenagers have a 2D circle, where the toys in the blind box are closely related to it. Buying blind boxes is to pay for their hobbies and interests. At the same time, they get friendship by showing, sharing or exchanging toys in these circles. Even so, we still need to treat blind boxes in a proper way. Edward
Though opening blind boxes is exciting, I think teenagers should avoid (避免) it. First, the prices of the blind boxes are mostly high. Second, opening blind boxes may lead to addiction (上瘾). If teenagers don’t get what they want in the first place, they may buy more boxes until they get what they want. This is not good for them. Lucy
