ANIMAL RESCUE(救援)
What will you do if you meet an animal that needs help
Will you help animals
Share your animal rescue stories with us!
Let’s make the world a better place.
I was walking home when I heard a loud sound from under a tree. I saw a dog
Jack sitting there and it looked sad. When I saw the bag of dog toys, I knew it was
abandoned(遗弃), so I called the Animal Rescue.
I was taking out the rubbish when I heard a sound. A tiny cat ran out. It looked thin,
Anita so I brought it home and gave it some water and food. I took it to the vet(兽医). The vet said it was nothing serious, Then I took care of it for two weeks until it went to live with an old man.
I was volunteering at a beach in Costa Rica. One afternoon I found that a turtle
Jane hadn’t moved for a long time. I saw it was having difficulty breathing. I lifted it
gently into a box and went to the animal rescue center.
21. Where did Jack find the dog?
A. Under a tree. B. At a beach. C. In a box.
22. Who raised the cat at last

I grew up in the countryside. I didn’t understand what it brought to me until I became an
adult. It helped me learn more practical skills(实践技能) than those who grew up in cities.
The first skill I learned was cooking, since my parents often came home late and a prepared
meal would help them have supper soon. I learned to make dough(面团) when I was 10. It sounds
easy but very difficult to do. However, it didn’t take too long for me to find the right way. A year
after that, I learned to cook different things like noodles and dumplings. I fell in love with cooking
1
because it’s really relaxing. More importantly, thanks to my cooking skill, it saves my money and
I don’t have to wait for others to feed me.
Besides cooking, I did a lot of farm work in my childhood. I got to know how to plant
vegetables. Though it was hard work, the experience did teach me things. For example, I learned
that the fruits of peanut(花生) and ginger(生姜) plants grow under the earth. Also, happiness
sometimes comes from learning. You’ll treasure(珍惜) everything on your plate.
The practical skills I learned not only improve my self-care ability but also provide me with a
new way to look at the world. So when I heard some students in primary and middle school will
have at least one class every week to learn some skills like cooking and cleaning, I was much too
happy. Trust me. The labor(劳动) education will help you for the rest of your life.
23. According to the passage, the writer didn’t learn _______.
A. cooking skills B. cleaning skills C. planting skills
24. When did the writer learn to make dough
A. At the age of ten. B. At the age of twelve. C. At the age of two.
25. What is the structure(结构) of the passage
A. B. C.
26. What does the writer think of labor education
A. He thinks that students will be happy with the coming labor education.
B. He isn’t very sure of the future use of labor education for students.
C. He believes that students need labor education and it’s good for their future.
C
What are you going to do if you are in a house on fire How
will you run away Do you know how to save yourself
Running away from a fire is a serious matter. Knowing
what to do during a fire can save your life. It is important to
know the ways you can use and show them to everyone in the
family, such as stairways(楼梯), but not lifts(电梯).
From the lower floors of the buildings, escaping through windows is possible. We should
learn the best way of leaving through windows with the least chance of getting serious injury(受伤
).
The second floor window is usually not very high from the ground. An average(普通的)
person, hanging by the fingertips, will have a drop of about six feet to the ground. It is about the
height of an average man. Of course, it is safer to jump a short way than to stay in a burning
building.
Windows are also useful when you are waiting for help. Be sure to keep the door closed. Or
smoke and fire may be drawn into the room. Keep your head low at the window to be sure you get
fresh air rather than smoke.
On the second or third floor, the best windows for running away are those that open onto a
roof(屋顶). From the roof a person can drop to the ground more safely.
2
Dropping onto cement(水泥) ground might end in injury. Bushes and grass can help to break
a fall.
Keep these in mind. When we are in difficult situations, we can know what we should do.
27. What does the underlined word “escaping” in Paragraph 3 probably mean
A. Calling up. B. Setting up. C. Running away,
28. How tall is an average man according to the passage
A. About 5 feet. B. About 6 feet. C. About 7 feet.
29. Why should we keep the door closed in a fire
A. To keep the smoke or fire out.
B. To stop breathing fresh air.
C. To find an easy way to run away.
30. What does the passage mainly talk about
A. Waiting for help in a fire.
B. The importance of fresh air in a fire.
C. Ways to save yourself in a house on fire.

During the Spring Festival holiday, 14-year-old Li Min
watched Ne Zha five times and Ne Zha 2 once. “Ne Zha and I are
similar — we both care what others think,” she said. Unlike
traditional stories where Ne Zha is born a hero, this movie shows
him starting as a lonely young demon. Through hard work, he
changes his fate(命运) and wins people’s respect.
The movie is breaking records. It has made over 10 billion
yuan worldwide, becoming the first Chinese film to do this. “This is
a historic moment,” said movie expert Lai Li. The film first opened
in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Papua New Guinea on February
8th, then came to the US and Canada the next day.
Why is it so popular Film expert Rao Shuguang says the secret is mixing old Chinese
myths(神话) with modern ideas. For example, the film innovatively combines traditional magic
tools like cosmic rings with dynamic animation techniques. However, Rao hopes future Chinese
films will try more themes.
Overseas Chinese are excited, too. Lynn Wu, a Chinese mother in Australia shared: “We’re
so proud! This movie’s beautiful art shows China’s creativity. All my friends are planning cinema
trips.”
Many schools are using the film to teach. Students discuss how Nezha’s story relates to their
lives. “When I feel lonely, I remember Ne Zha never gives up,” said Li Hua. Teachers also
organize drawing competitions about the movie’s traditional Chinese costumes.
For those who can’t go to cinemas, the film’s website offers free coloring pages. Li Hua
downloaded Ne Zha’s costume design and made her own notebook. “It’s fun to learn culture this
way!” she said.
56. Did Li Min watch Ne Zha 2 more than Ne Zha
57. In which four countries was Ne Zha 2 released before in the US and Canada
58. Why is Ne Zha 2 successful according to Rao Shuguang
59. How do overseas Chinese feel about Ne Zha 2

reasons for doing this are that the old people are very lonely. Respecting the old and caring for the
young is a traditional virtue of the Chinese nation. Also, helping others can make us feel happy.
I believe it will be a meaningful activity and we can learn a lot from it. I sincerely invite you
to join me.

Li Hua
