Kitten Kay Sera is officially the world’s pinkest person. The 52-year-old woman lives in a totally pink house with pink accessories (配饰) and has worn nothing but pink for the last 35 years. If you think it is easy to make everything pink, you should take a look at her dog, because she even colors her dog pink by using some harmless juice.
Kitten had her strong love for pink in her late teens. “I gave all my other clothes away. My family thought a short time later I would change my mind quickly, but I am starting my fortieth year of pink power and I am not looking back. The experiment made me realize how much money I had spent on the clothes I never wore because they didn’t suit my style. Wearing just one color made me feel strong and took the stress out of deciding what to wear,” she explains.
Kitten is now celebrating winning “the pinkest person” title. She says, “I am the world’s pinkest person and my life is filled with that color. Some people think I am strange, but honestly, I don’t care because I feel comfortable and happy with my choice.”
Both she and her pink home are in demand. Every day, she receives thousands of calls from many people including some famous singers, movie makers and designers. They all want to visit her house. For singers, they want her house as part of their MV. For designers, they always use her house for some magazines. “I think my love begins to pay me back,” Kitten says.

In the park, you see a group of people, all looking up at the sky. Without thinking about it, you look upwards, too. Why In the concert, someone begins to clap and suddenly the whole room joins in. You do, too. Why
Sometimes we feel we are acting correctly when we do the same as others. The more people follow an idea, the better or truer we think the idea is. It’s the social proof(社会认同感) that works.
The scientist Asch carried out an experiment. It shows how social proof can influence us. In a room, a man is shown Line 1, and next to it are three lines(A, B, C). A is longer, C is shorter and B is as long as Line 1. He must tell which of the three lines is as long as Line 1. When the man is alone, he gives the correct answer B. Then, five other man enter the room, and each of them gives the answer C as they were told to. Now the man changes his idea and gives the answer C. Asch got the same result many times among different subjects(实验对象).
Why do we act like this Well, in the past, following others was a way to keep away from danger. Suppose that 5000 years ago you were hunting(打猎) with friends. Suddenly, they all ran away. What would you have done Would you have stayed No, you would have run, too. We are descendants(后代) of those who copied others’ action. It is so deeply planted in our mind that we still use it now.
Social proof has special power. The advertising industry, for example, often makes use of it. So be careful whenever a company says its product is “the most popular”.
18. At the beginning of the passage, the writer leads in the topic by ____.
A. telling a story B. giving examples
C. answering questions D. showing a map
19. According to Paragraph 3, the experiment by Asch shows ____.

B. social proof may change people’s ideas
C. it’s difficult to carry out the experiment
D. people can study better if they are alone
20. The underlined word “It” in Paragraph 4 refers to ____.
A. running with others B. hunting with friends
C. copying others’ action D. doing something different
21. According to the passage, we can infer(推断) that ____.
A. it’s important to run with others anytime
B. products in the advertisement are the best
C. we mustn’t copy others’ action to keep safe
D. we need to think twice before following others
D
“The past is a different country; they do things differently there,” L.P. Hartley wrote in one of his best-known novels, The Go-Between. To the British novelist, the past was not closely connected. And one of my Chinese students once told me “I have no interest in the past. I’m only interested in the present and the future.” I have to disagree. The “past” is a very interesting country, and the more we know about it, the more we will be able to understand the present and in this way, prepare ourselves for the future.
An ideal place, as I see it, that can allow us to look back on the past is the museum. I prefer to visit museums as if you are sitting in the same room with some of the greatest men in history. While no museums can make sure to offer a complete picture of human history, the lessons we can learn from the events and wonders of the past are of great value.
Thanks to modern technology, museums are being turned from places of looking and learning to spaces for people to really take part in. A large number of multi-media(多媒体) shows, which allow visitors to keep their interest in its exhibits(展览品) during their visit, play a big part at the Shanghai Natural History Museum.
The rise in technology has also made museums more reachable than ever. Since the outbreak of COVID-19, traditional museums have started to think outside of the box in order to create new ways for visitors to experience their collections online. It is surely good news for those who are crazy about museums but have difficulty actually going there. However, you shouldn’t expect to get the same experience that an in-person visit would provide, at least, that is, for now.
International Museum Day is on May 18 every year. This is a quick reminder that you should always spare some time to visit museums and enjoy the “must-see ‘em” things that are an important part of the cultural heritage of humankind.
22. What does the writer think of “the past”
A. Different. B. Meaningful. C. Unimportant. D. Understandable.
23. Why is the museum an ideal place to look back on the past
A. It’s where to learn and think. B. It’s where to learn about past events.
C. It’s where to meet with great minds. D. It’s where to learn from ancient wonders.
24. What does “outside of the box way” mean
A. Offering online exhibits. B. Allowing more in-person visits.
C. Adding multi-media shows. D. Showing a complete picture of history.
25. Which could be the best title for the text
A. Technology Recreates Museums B. Celebrate International Museum Day
C. Museums Are “Must-see ‘ems” D. Visit Museums In-person or Online

七、阅读表达(共3小题;74题2分,75题2分,76题3分,共7分)
Have you felt sad before a test Have you ever been worried about something that makes you unable to sleep If so, then you know what stress is. Stress is what you feel when you are worrying about something. You may feel angry, sad or even afraid, which might lead to a headache or a stomachache.
There are different kinds of stress. Some are good while others are bad. Good stress might happen when you’re asked to answer questions in class or when you have to give a speech. This kind of stress can help you get things better done. For example, you may do better in your exam if the stress pushes you to prepare better before the exam.
Bad stress always happens if the stress lasts too long. You may not feel good if one of your family members is sick, if you’re having problems at school, or if anything else makes you unhappy every day. That kind of stress isn’t going to help you. Sometimes it can make you sick.
The best way to face the stress is to have a balanced life. Remember to keep four things in mind: sleep, exercise, leisure (休闲) and food. If you get enough sleep and eat healthily, and if you exercise often and leave more time for fun, you’ll probably feel less stressed.

I encouraged myself to stay calm and think positively, just like the bright yellow around me.
